Cover Photo: Image Branding for your Business

Have you figured out the new FB Timeline yet?  How about…making the most of it for your business?  Since FB is ‘highly encouraging’ you to use the Timeline (force is just such a harsh word) you may as well start perfecting it and  learn to enjoy it so that it will be to your advantage.  I can relate this to my life of doing laundry for 7 children….my advantage?  I’ve learned to love it…I’m a pro and I get to enjoy kids who smell like Mountain Breeze!!!

Facebook business pages will only HELP your business.  So…I thought I’d help you understand how to make the most of the new Timeline so you can start the buzz going around your brand!

Tip #1:  The cover photo is such an important branding opportunity!  That is the first thing people see when they come to your page.  Make sure you choose a unique photo that represents your business page.  Example:  If you are an artist-the cover photo should be one of your pieces.  If you own a restaurant-one of your scrumptious dishes.  If you sell products-display one of those.  If you offer services-you can also post a photo of that.  Your cover photo represents you….you are the one who creates this first impression.  Make it good!

Here are the dimensions you’ll need to be aware of:

Cover Photo:  851 x 315 pixels.  You can easily crop and resize in a photo shop program.  I use http://www.picnik.com/  Which will be moving to Google+ in a couple of weeks.  So far, it’s done everything I needed it to do…and it’s FREE!!!

Profile Picture:  125 x 125 pixels.  You can be creative with this by incorporating it with your cover photo.   I suggest that you place your logo here because when you comment or post, this is the photo that everyone will see.  You want them to recognize it as your brand.

Here are a few rules to keep in mind when creating your cover photo.

Next tip will be about those Custom Tab images….and the tabs themselves.  They are a very important part of the timeline that you will definitely need to take advantage of.

So….get started.  I want to see all those awesome Cover Photos that you come up with!  Send me a link to your FB business page.  I’d love to check it out!
